Caris, Ltd. is a privately held investment partnership, with over $350 million of assets initially under management. Caris is seeking long-term, strategic investments principally in the private marketplace. Targeted sectors for Caris include health care, energy, retail and financial services. Caris is based in Irving, Texas.

Caris was formed in 2004 as the long-term investment vehicle for David D. Halbert. Prior to forming Caris, Mr. Halbert was Chairman and CEO of AdvancePCS, the nation's leading health improvement company, which he founded in 1987 and guided from a small, privately held, sponsor-backed enterprise into a Fortune 500 corporation with over $14 billion of revenues annually.

Halbert is joined by two former AdvancePCS executives, Laurie Johansen and Steve Houk, with backgrounds in legal affairs and finance, respectively. In addition, Caris works closely with another former AdvancePCS executive, Leslie Simmons Brille, as a limited partner and her consulting firm, Isis Advisors. Leslie and Isis Advisors are located in New York, New York.

Together, the principals of Caris bring a successful track record of building sustainable business enterprises and partnering with management teams.
