Caris is the Greek word for grace, defined as:
 
  "that which causes joy, pleasure, gratification, favor, acceptance, for a kindness granted or desired, a benefit, thanks, gratitude. A favor done without expectation of return; the absolutely free expression of the loving kindness of God to men finding its only motive in the bounty and benevolence of the Giver; unearned and unmerited favor."  
 
With the objective of helping others who are less fortunate and alleviating human suffering, the Halbert family founded the Caris Foundation, a non-profit organization within the Caris family of companies. The family established the foundation several years ago with the intention of helping to support the basic needs of the least fortunate. They will continue to fund the foundation through future personal gifts.
