Caris' goal is to build a portfolio of concentrated investments in which Caris' involvement can accelerate the companies' growth trajectories and create greater value for shareholders, employees, and customers. When screening potential investments, Caris looks for opportunities with the following characteristics:
  • To accelerate the company's growth plans through the infusion of additional capital;
  • To enhance the value of the company through a combination of established business relationships, strategic vision, and operational expertise;
  • To attain a significant stake in the company, ideally a majority investment or, over time, through additional investments in operations or for acquisitions; and
  • To invest $20 to $100 million per transaction.
Caris brings significant managerial, operational, merger and acquisition, financial and legal expertise to its investment partners. Having run companies from a start-up to a Fortune 500 size, the Caris partners offer a unique value proposition versus traditional private investors. Caris focuses its efforts on identifying management teams within companies looking to tap into the capital and strategic value that the partners of Caris offer.

Caris is a fully funded investment company and does not seek outside money. As well, the Chairman of the firm is the principal shareholder of Caris. Therefore, the company can react quickly and discreetly in response to attractive investment opportunities. All material shared with Caris remains confidential, as Caris has no requirements to report to outside investors.

Above all, Caris' principle objective is long-term capital appreciation, measured by aggregate returns, rather than internal rates of return. As a result, Caris does not face any pressure by outside investors with conflicting time horizons and thus shares a long-term time horizon with management teams.
